D. Michael Razee

After dabbling with watercolors and acrylics for the past twenty years, I was never quite satisfied with the amount of detail that I could obtain with these mediums. After discovering an art book in the public library about colored pencil paintings, I was encouraged to try my hand at them, because they offered the potential for the prexcision I desired in my work. I've obtained and read several books on the subject and set about to teach myself the use of colored pencils.

My work to this point has been an attempt to try various techniques with different subjects. The red onions painting was my first serious piece of artwork with colored pencil. The green '35 Ford was a lesson in shiny finishes. The pheasant I painted because of my interest in birds. I have been very encouraged with what can be accomplished.
